Child Safeguarding Policy
1. Policy Statement
CG Fight Club and Royal Harbour Amateur Boxing Club are committed to ensuring that all children and young people who participate in our activities are safe, protected, and respected.
We believe every child has the right to enjoy sport in an environment free from abuse, harm, neglect, and exploitation. The welfare of the child is our highest priority across both clubs.
2. Purpose of this Policy
•To protect children and young people who attend CG Fight Club and Royal Harbour Amateur Boxing Club.
•To provide staff, coaches, volunteers, parents, and members with clear safeguarding responsibilities.
•To outline procedures for prevention, reporting, and response across both clubs.
3. Scope
This policy applies to:
•All staff, coaches, and volunteers at both CG Fight Club and Royal Harbour Amateur Boxing Club.
•Parents, guardians, and carers involved in either club.
•All children and young people under 18 who participate in club activities.
4. Legal & Regulatory Framework
This policy is guided by UK child protection legislation and safeguarding standards (Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018), and by guidance from relevant national governing bodies for boxing.
5. Principles
•Welfare first: The safety of children is paramount at both clubs.
•Inclusive practice: All children have equal rights to protection.
•Accountability: All adults share responsibility for safeguarding.
•Partnership: We work with parents, carers, and safeguarding agencies.
•Transparency: Concerns will be handled promptly, fairly, and confidentially.
6. Roles & Responsibilities
Club Safeguarding Officers (CSOs)
Each club will appoint a Club Safeguarding Officer responsible for:
•Acting as lead contact for safeguarding concerns.
•Ensuring safeguarding training for staff and volunteers.
•Maintaining records of concerns and actions.
•Liaising with local safeguarding partners and authorities.
Coaches, Staff, and Volunteers
•Must follow this joint safeguarding policy.
•Complete safeguarding training regularly.
•Report any concerns immediately to their club’s CSO.
Parents and Carers
•Support the safeguarding principles of both clubs.
•Report any concerns about welfare to the relevant CSO.
Children and Young People
•Encouraged to speak to a trusted adult or the CSO if worried.
•Respected and listened to at all times.
7. Code of Conduct
All adults working with children at either club must:
•Treat all children with respect and dignity.
•Always act in the best interests of children.
•Maintain professional boundaries.
•Never engage in behaviour that could be abusive, exploitative, or harmful.
•Avoid being alone in private with a child wherever possible.
8. Safe Recruitment
Both clubs are committed to safe recruitment practices:
•All staff and volunteers working with children will undergo background checks (DBS checks).
•References will be obtained and verified.
•Safeguarding responsibilities will be clearly outlined in all roles.
9. Reporting Concerns
•Any safeguarding concerns must be reported immediately to the relevant CSO.
•If the concern involves a CSO, report to the Club Director or local safeguarding authority.
•In an emergency, contact the police or children’s social services.
•All concerns will be taken seriously, recorded, and acted upon promptly.
10. Confidentiality
•Safeguarding information will be treated with sensitivity.
•Records will be securely stored and shared only with those who need to know to protect the child.
11. Training & Awareness
•All staff and volunteers at both clubs must complete safeguarding training.
•Refresher training will be provided regularly.
•Safeguarding information will be shared with parents and children.
12. Monitoring & Review
•This policy will be reviewed annually by the Management Teams of both clubs and the CSOs.
•Updates will be made in line with legislation and best practice.
•Feedback from children, parents, and staff will inform improvements.
